I don't get the whole enforcer thing... the members with any extra powers are moderators.

BTW, there's no more purple.

The only special colors remaining are for moderators and young folk. Feel free to tell me that this is unfair to 11 year olds ;)

I went back and read the OP again, after looking at the thread.

Can anybody make it more simple than what was posted? Is it so hard to understand the meaning and purpose of that post?

Will the members allow this place to become a bar brawl, and blame the fight on the bartender?

Is a difference of opinion about 'W' or 'O' really what this is about? Or how much 'stuff' somebody's got?

I just posted on some thread that the guy was pissed off because his friend has a new car, good job, a 'hot squeeze'.

I can relate to that person. He's honest. Open. Willing to listen. Even asked for opinions.

The forum is alive, ya'll.

It doesn't even belong to Rob anymore. Just the financial responsibility, and the burden of trying to keep it as envisioned. Pulling the plug would be easier, I assure you.

Sorry to sound like 'Dad'. But a private doesn't resent a sergeant, unless he is a corrupt sergeant, and even the private can 'take him out'. And a sergeant doesn't resent the officer, he helps train him. (or her)

Whoever owns the field of battle is never in the fight on it.

'Course, maybe I'm just a ramblin' ole' fool.

But I like this field. Go try the 'web bot' forum. You'll see the difference.

I wish Kaku hadn't closed the Hyperphysics forum, but I'm pretty sure it was about the same reason you(we) are discussing.

Common logic mistake ;)

There are also some non-Elders who have made lots of posts who simply haven't been suggested as Elders.

Not being an elder is certainly not meaning a person isn't worthy. It could just be that someone doesn't stand out or doesn't discuss things I find more interesting. Most Elders are nominated by moderators. I fully suspect there are a dozen or two members worthy of Elder status, I just don't have the time or inclination to work on it. As I have always said, it isn't that important, and don't place too much importance on it. It is primarily to help newbies and to help me keep an eye on things.

[at the other forum] there are no elders, no think tank and there is a Hell of a lot more respect given not just to those on the left but those on the right as well
That's fine, this is not a political forum.

Tonight, I actually liked getting back to the non-political discussions, like it used to be.

Aside from "elders", I feel it's unfair that people like AG don't get the obvious "comedian", "likely carrier of venereal diseases" or "possible leper" designation.

I still support custom titles/colors for everyone. 8)

If people don't want politics mentioned there are two simple courses of action: 1. remove all subforums not directly related to 2012 like "The Lounge" or, 2. if you see a thread that's political, stay out of it...you know, change the channel.

Oh, but it's sooo tempting to click on something titled, "Obama is going to put my grandma in a FEMA camp!"

This all reminds me of a broiler chicken farm. The chicks who had different colored feathers were pecked to death. Proof we are just animals.

And there have been "Elders," one in particular who has repeatedly attacked another member without provocation. I have not named a name because of the new rules, but that member is still an "elder." Seems to me they're more like at this point, they're more like "enforcers" than "Elders." They can say and do what they like while others are attacked, condemned and banned. There's always an excuse for their behavior. It's pointless discussing it further because you just don't get it.Again, it's your forum and they're your rules. But for someone who talks such a good game and portends to be so impartial and enlightened, I would have expected more than it's ok if "Elders" stoop to personal attacks...."It's ok if you hit him back because he hit you first." Yeah....real mark of maturity!

Go ahead, name the name.. because I know you want to... We all know who you are attacking anyway-- ME!
You've only typed "Jenya" about 1,000 times in the last 3 weeks...

You are terribly self-righteous. You have all these high expectations of "Elders", but you live up to none of them. I only
type things that most everyone here is thinking, and you are the biggest instigator of all.

Lets see... what's your agenda? You want me banned Mr. Freedom-of-Speech??
