As forum members increase, so do the number of posts. The more posts, the easier it is for threads to slip off-topic and also to end up having its original topic taken over and lead away from it’s original purpose. (Highjacking)

While the Lounge is a great place to talk about anything and everything, Lounge topics that go off course are not really to be worried about. But when more serious topics are being discussed on the other boards, going off topic and losing the original purpose of the thread can be very frustrating to the original poster & those taking such posts seriously.

If we are to maintain a forum which people can sort through boards, threads and posts to find useful information in an easy manner, and debate and discuss such information without having the threads going down hill because of off topic discussion, then we need to keep threads on topic at all times.

So please be aware that when you go off-topic on boards outside of the Lounge, that a moderator will likely give you a kind reminder to get back on topic.

Not sure of opinion, but maybe. Maybe, at some future point, say, After a Useful thread is locked. Perhaps someone with Power AND time might be willing to sift through them and say... Remove, extraneous posts. After the thread had been locked. Of Course. Just a thought. That way archived items, say, some of the great links on Refuge's Survival listing, have all the Worth while content and less of the random banter.

Just an idea. :D Yes, it would be TIME consuming... But an idea, nonetheless. :)

my vote would be to get rid of all the threads with just a link and a title no text and no replies, lol!
Locked threads actually sometimes have some good content that some noddyhead has come along and posted something noddyheaded and wrecked by being a noddyhead!

Disneyworld has been a lot of fun this year....oh wait, is this what he means by hijacking? LOL just kidding. I noticed that I tend to get off topic a bit, but I am going to use my excuse as a former faerie.. if it's shiny and sparkles, then I am drawn to it, be damned the consequences! But i'll try to do better..

what was the topic again?

last time I was in okie it was 1987 and I was at ft sill...an f4 tornado chased my plpatoon from the bayonet range to the barracks and made me cry (I was 18) for my mom...I kid you not it was one of the most scary experiences I have ever had....but I did love the weather even if the biggest mountain in the area (they call it mt scott?) was nothing more than a mole hill compared to the cascades here:D....I just realized we hijacked this thread and it belongs to the boss :O

so there is actually rules to protect the integrity of thread and topics.
1 am somewhat curious [having made an ass of myself alreay] why this rule doesnt seem to be enforced by mods?

1ve waded thru pages and pages of personal attacks by members 1ve already named in a thread 1 titled 'trolls' one i may add that 1 sterted out of pure frustration.

So 1f a thread goes way off topic or personal conflicts develope
a mod must be asked to act ?

just askin.
