Hello everyone! Does anyone know what The Photon Belt is?

QUOTE FROM WIKIPEDIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Photon_Belt):
Quote:
The photon belt (photon ring, manasic ring, or golden nebula) is a fringe belief largely linked to some parts of the new age movement that a belt or ring of photons is going to, depending on the source of the information, fully envelope the Earth in 2011 and possibly cause massive failure of electrical equipment with 2-3 days of total darkness or total daylight, and/or initiate some kind of spiritual transition (usually referred to as "a shift in consciousness", "the shift of the ages", or just "the shift", with the time period leading up to the shift as "the quickening"; it has also been referred to as "zero point" and ties in to various prophecies, the Mayan calendar, extraterrestrial life, etc).

The core of the photon belt beliefs is that a an immense belt of photons exists, and orbits around the Pleiades, a star cluster some 440 light years away from Earth, composed of some 500 stars. According to some New Age beliefs, Earth will pass though this belt, resulting in either Humanity's elevation to a higher plain of existence or the end of the world. Essene and Nidel write that it represents a temporary window for spiritual transition during which time humans can reach a higher point of existence.

Long story short... The Photon Belt is a belt in the universe (just like there's asteroid belt, lol). The Earth will enter The Photon Belt in year 2012, photons are small things or something (smaller than atoms) that pass through anything. When the Earth enters The Photon Belt, it will cause DNA change, enlightenment, "a shift of conciseness". People will develop abilities such as telepathy. Interesting huh?

Tell me what do you think about this!

Regards,
Poison

Sounds impossible...

A larger question is *why* would we be orbiting the Pleiades; to do so
would require a large mass centered there. We can derive what that
mass is from the fact that the velocity with which an object orbits
(assuming a circular orbit) another is also given by the equation v^2 =
GM/R. We can rewrite that as M = R*v^2/G. So doing, we can deduce
that for the Sun to orbit the Pleides at a distance of 410 LY at a
velocity of 0.1c would require a central mass of
M = 410LY * (3x10^7m/s)^2 / 6.668x10-11 m^3/kg*s^2
= 3.88x10^18 m * 9x10^14 m^2/s^2 / 6.668x10-11 m^3/kg*s^2
= 5.24x10^43 kg

The mass of the Sun is 2x10^30 kg, so this is 2.6x10^13 Suns. The mass
of the galaxy, including dark matter (see below), is estimated to be
between 10^9 and 10^10 Suns, so in order for us to orbit the Pleiades,
there would have to be a mass of around 10000 galaxies there. That
would definitely be something we'd notice--if only by the gravitational
lensing!

Also, why would photons bend? To make photons bend into a belt would require a great deal of gravity, the kind of gravity seen just outside the event horizon of a black hole.

try these threads...

but a photon belt? surely it's just a name and not a description..
I do think the galaxy has hidden/unseen dangers lurking ....and we're going very fast....very fast...

Or look at Michael Tsarion's writings/vids.

And we can't go faster than the speed of light.
I wish people would stop visualizing such awful things.

"Oh, let's imagine a horrible future when we all will be wearing Kevlar and Gortex and carrying huge weapons. Let's all find caves, so we can survive the Holocaust like in the Matrix---and find a hovercraft."

If we can see a garden in our minds, we can make one of the Earth.
Of course it is more fun to play with guns, but not in real life.

who said anything about the speed of light...?...photons are light, but I was referring to this...

the galaxy is not just empty space, it is 99 percent electromagnetic/plasma, which is enromously more powerful than gravity....just striking a dust cloud would be disastrous...

The Earth ... rotates at 1040 MPH at the equator
... orbiting the Sun at 66,000 MPH
The Solar System....orbits the Milky Way at 230,000 MPH
and the Milky Way is moving (relative to other galaxies) at 360,000 MPH

Now, an orbit puts us on both sides (moving 'forward' or 'rearward') of the galaxy...therefore, when our system is orbiting to the rear, then 360,000 minus the 230,000 gives us a velocity of 130,000 MPH through space...

when we 'round the corner' and our orbit is in the same direction as the galaxy...then 230,000 PLUS 360,000 gives us a velocity of 590,000 MPH !!!

If we happen to be on the same vector in our yearly orbit you can add the 66,000 also...giving us an approximate 650,000 MPH !!!

photons (light) won't do anything to us, regardless of our speed....a 'belt' of anything else would be a major problem....
