Interesting she gets it wrong in a different way. Her solution has no allowance for finishing and has the caterpillar falling off the top of the bush at the end.

What if the caterpillar decides to eat some leaves on the way up....he might get heavier and slower.....not to mention the added time for munching breaks.

Well if it turned into a butterfly. There would be no problem. I guess the teacher is cross eyed. It is 32 mins. Thanks for that link.

How long does it take the caterpillar to fall back 6 inches?

at the rate of earths gravity being 9.8meters per second/second it would take about 0.176 seconds to fall six inches

given that the said bug would fall 14 times that would only add less than 2 and a half seconds to the problem.

NOOOOO!!!!

It's 30 minutes!! Arent you paying attention??!! You don't count the last drop! Even Acolyte agrees with me. ...and he always checks my math...

well technically its 30 minutes and 2.468 seconds... :|

But I did post this:

edit for more confusion: However quantam physics says it will never reach the destination because it keeps only going half of the distance!

remember the exercise in trying to get to the pond by going halfway each time? If you only go halfway each time, then you never actually reach your destination!

I actually dreamt about this stupid caterpillar last night.. james and the giant peach version, of a caterpillar getting bigger and bigger, and falling off a tree that turned into a beanstalk..

Invasion of the 50ft james and the Giant peach, Jack and the magic beans, clumsy caterpillar.. I am so taking a sleeping pill tonight..

I thought the title of the thread summed it all up quite nicely
