i know i love going to thrift stores, i can get a whole basket of clothes for 35 bucks i used to get clothes from the girl down the street all the time. she would just drop them off for me to look at and i would keep anything i liked then pass the rest to my cousin.

No mention of "they were just tourists". So perhaps they weren't.

In the UK, anyone that wants to live here, must pass a test, which shows knowledge of life in the UK, and the fact that they speak fluent English. It should be the same in the US.

I'm 1/8 Native American, and most of my family lines have been in the US since prior to 1700.

I believe this was introduced in 2005? From Autumn 2010, there will be more strenuous English tests - and this requirement will apply to spouses and fiances etc. But it still does not apply to immigrants from the EU. Ironically there are many who have been in the UK for 10 - 20 years and who scarcely speak the language.

As you can imagine, that caused some raised eyebrows in areas where people's first language is more likely to be Gaelic or Welsh. Everyone there can speak English, but that's not the point, really.

London is a shocking pit of ignorance, really.
