Hi,
as luck would have it I posted a reply to a topic before introducing myself but so be it.

40 years old, with an interest in spirituality, UFOs, metaphysics, physics, quantum mechanics, alternative technology, conspiracy theories and a bunch of other stuff that seem to be related to these subjects (that means pretty much everything doesn`t it?).
Practical minded, tech savvy to some extent working on cars, electrics, electronics to some extend, computers, wood work, welding, metal shaping, stone work and more. Not expert in any of these fields but have basic knowledge and lots of tools

I am also a musician, playing 4 instruments but would not know how to read sheet music if my life depended on it. Oh well. I love a good discussion and consider myself fairly open minded with regards to most subjects.
I live in an area with a low population density by choice. No way I want to be in a city if 2012 goes "boom", because if the earthquakes, tsunamis or whatever gets you, the looters will. My house is built on mountain rock, it goes "all the way down", and I am about 5 kilometers from the beach and about 15kms from open ocean with lots of valleys between me and it. Fresh water is plentiful (hopefully even after such an event), so is fish, deer and other game.
I am of the opinion that any technical item you can do without in a crisis situation, the better. Example: if you need to light a fire a gas lighter will not help you if you are out of gas or if its broken. Best way: stock up on matches or things that are easily ignited and something that easily make sparks without need of electricity. I try to stick to this type of thinking for all things I need in a crisis. The less things that can break, the better. Right?

Peace,
Practical Theorist
