I haven't a clue where it came from, but have a red cross which has suddenly appeared in the top left corner of my Google Earth. I have uninstalled the whole shebang and reinstalled it, but the darned thing is still there. Any body got any ideas how to get rid of it please? ..Bingalau..

found this in one of the forums Bingalau
1. 4.2.0198.2451 (beta)
2. Windows XP Professional
3. Turning on the overview map results in a ftech error "could not
load image stream0_0." The result is a gray box with a big red "X" in
the overview map area. the only way to prevent the error messages is
to turn off the overview map.

I am now experiencing an overlay in Google Earth which covers about a half of the whole earth. Also, when tyring to use it, and because of the overlay, the area is very misty, and no fine image detail can be accessed.
Can anyone help with this, please. I would rather not have the overlay at all. I have updated it recently.
Many thanks,
jonjon

Hello!
I have solved the "problem"! This was a ticked box named "My Places".
When unticked, the whole world was at my fingertips again!
Now you know!

Hi! to all
I'm very new at GE but found something very strange. While looking down at the Russian naval and air facilities on the Kola Peninsula suddendly a white field with a red X appeared covering the area.
How did they know I was looking and who are they?
Now it won't go away!

It sounds like GE was trying to load an image overlay but the source image has been moved/deleted. I can't remember, but I believe you can right click on an image overlay to get into its properties, which will let you fix it - or remove it. If that doesn't work you can still look for it in your saved placemarks.
