it's not a list of things to have, although a good one, it is a list of things that 'disappear first' after disaster hits....

it's been 'kind of' refined since the civil wars in Europe....

it looks like people were not prepared to cook, by the early part of the list....those items disappear early, you see....

and yes, they weren't prepared for the dark night time, either....

I've heard that too...seems to me that was on Mail Call once, and that they're standard issue in every soldier's first aid kit. Good there though. Called to mind something I haven't thought about for awhile, lol.

no they are not standard issue and not every soldier's has a first aid kit, all the common US trooper gets is 1 field dressing and 1 cravat, some now get a blood stoper bandage or quick clot. I carried some in my aid bag for a JIC.

One item that is missing from the list is VEGEMITE. It was used in ration packs during the wars because it contains essential B vitamins. You can eat it out of the jar, mix it with hot water to drink or in cooking. It also comes in tubes for travelling.

Not Banned, persay. But commerical consumerism 'removes' it from the 'wants/needs' section... V_V

bacon and eggs?? good god Ace. No, we have tofu on an english muffin and skim milk.......bacon and eggs, ug. I feel like my ass is bigger just from typing that. Your idea of the four food groups is beans, bacon, whiskey and lard..RIGHT?
